In this episode Daggers & Lyds are joined by Sky Cricket colleague and former Australia international Mel Jones to chat about a topic which has returned to the headlines recently.
The plight of the Afghanistan women's team has been ongoing ever since the country returned to Taliban rule back in 2021. The Taliban refuse to allow women to play sports (amongst many other laws against women) and so the team assisted by Mel and other sought out refugee status for them in Australia.
The ICC still allow the Afghan men's team to compete despite the rule that states that a full member nation must have a recognised women's team and pathways for women and girls.
The outgoing ICC chair Greg Barclay was interviewed by the Daily Telegraph recently where his comments regarding this topic caused quite the reaction.
